Dr. Michelle O'Brien is a leading Pain Physician with a total of 28 years of experience as a doctor. One of the leading specialists that treat all her patients with the up utmost care and respect. With her 28 years of experience as a doctor, she has some of the highest standards and will uphold them all when treating patients.
Dr O'Brien studied medicine at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, graduating in 1993. She trained in anaesthesia at a number of the major hospitals in Brisbane and regional South East Queensland and went on to work as a consultant anaesthetist at the Prince Charles Hospital and in private practice. Time spent living and working in Indonesia reignited their interest in pain medicine, and since her return from Indonesia in 2015, she has been training and working in pain management - at the prestigious Professor Tess Cramond Multidisciplinary Pain Centre (Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital) and St. Vincent's Private Hospital. Dr O'Brien sees patients with all types of chronic pain. Her particular interests include the importance of multidisciplinary team care for chronic pain - where the patient plays a central role, with an emphasis on pain education and psychological support, interventional procedures including Spinal Cord Stimulators, and the evidence-based and evolving use of opioids in chronic pain. She is a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain.
Dr. O'Brien is an appointed member of the panel of examiners for the Faculty of Pain Medicine (ANZCA).

Dr. Emily Farrell

Dr Emily Farrell earned a fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FFPMANZCA).
Dr Farrell is a General Practitioner by primary specialty qualification - having trained regionally on the North Coast of NSW then worked as a GP with Special Interest in women’s and sexual health, musculoskeletal and sports medicine and adult general medicine in Brisbane.
Prior to studying in medicine, Dr Farrell studied and worked in the field of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, is also is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and studied visual arts at TAFE.
Dr Farrell is comfortable working with complex patients with physical and psychological multi-morbidity - the majority with persistent pain - along with her procedural interest led her to formally pursue the specialist pain medicine physician training.
Dr Farrell has a particular skill in working with neurodivergent patients.
While her practice philosophy is of holistic, trauma-informed, values-based care with a life-style medicine focus, she believes that judiciously selected procedural interventions in specific patients are an integral part of this.
